My Superpower

A Strength Spotter Activity

Many students struggle to recognize their own positive attributes, often internalizing deficit-focused feedback regarding academic or behavioral challenges. When young people lack a clear understanding of their personal strengths, self-worth declines and engagement in classroom or afterschool activities drops. Without structured opportunities for strength-spotting, educators miss valuable moments to foster resilience and build genuine self-efficacy in youth.

My Superpower: A Strength Spotter Activity addresses this gap by providing teachers, youth development leaders, and afterschool staff with an actionable, strength-based reflection tool. Designed for students in grades 3 through 12, this worksheet translates the core Relational Intelligence practice of Value Mining into a structured exercise where youth identify, name, and take pride in their unique abilities across multiple environments.

By guiding students to reflect on how their strengths manifest at home, at school, and in afterschool settings, this tool bridges the gap between personal identity and daily actions. It culminates in a peer-teaching prompt and a personalized "Superpower Statement," empowering students to own their expertise, build confidence, and contribute positively to their learning communities.
